It will sound insane, but journaling can be a little bit overhelming and unnatural at firsts. But, it's just a psychological barrier that can be overcome with practice. So there is some sense in journaling shorter entries more often to get momentum and start feeling more natural about putting thoughts and self-reflection insight into words.
This way, one can start quickly and keep going pulled by the thrill of momentum — slowing at some point when a more meaningful balance between frequency and volume of the entires is found naturally.

Whatever you do, don't overthink journaling. Sometimes a simple sentence written in-the-moment is worth more than stretched and over-edited elaborate. Journaling is fun, it's the process of getting to know yourself, so let your inner self speak with its own voice!
